The program is hosted by local school districts and is similar to the Day at Camp Paz program. The program provides awareness for children and their families to understand issues of trust, family dynamics, guilt, interpersonal relationships, memories, hopes and dreams. The importance of this program is the participation of the school districts, and helping children in an environment where they are already comfortable. Districts in Maricopa County contact Stepping Stones of Hope about the possibility of hosting a Saturday grief camp on one of their school campuses. Districts are responsible for incurring and raising the program fee, identifying appropriate children in their district who could benefit from the program, identifying and recruiting district volunteers to partner with Stepping Stones of Hope volunteers, and securing food for the day. Districts have the choice of providing a kids only program or including an adult program that runs simultaneously with the kids camp. Stepping Stones of Hope provides the expertise, registration forms and marketing supplies, curriculum, insurance, program supplies, training for district volunteers, a select number of agency volunteers, and oversight during the process and day of the camp. If your district is interested in learning more, please contact our office 602.264.7520.
